What is a Senior Carer Visa?
Brexit and COVID 10 presented an unprecedented shortage of human resources to the UK's health and social care system. In response, government introduced a Health and Care Worker Visa which is an umbrella of related professions to attract skilled workers from abroad. Senior carer is one among this list with occupation code as:
6146: senior care workers
How Much Can I Earn Working as a Senior Carer?
£25,600, known as the general minimum threshold; for an employer to sponsor a skilled worker. Here’s where the Shortage Occupation List comes in. When a job is on that list, the general minimum threshold drops to £20,480.
This is for a new entrant and the most common definition of a ‘new entrant’, means the person is aged under 26 at the time they apply for their Skilled Worker visa, or they are a recent graduate.
What are the Benefits?
You will get the UK work Visa for up to 5 years and once you complete this five-year period, then you can apply for settlement or indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK. (meeting required criteria)
Another attraction is the language requirement as you can apply for a Visa With/Without IELTS or OET. This provides an excellent opportunity for nurses who could not meet language requirement as they could certainly improve their language skills while working in the UK.
As it comes under Health and Care Worker Visa, you are exempt from paying Immigration Health Surcharge for you and your family and basically savings thousands of pounds, especially if you are moving as a family. As shortage occupation, you will pay reduced visa fees and your dependent can work or study full time.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
A qualified nurse, health professional or adult social care professional with experience in eligible health or social care job.
