Foster Carer Assessment: Providing Durability, Resilience, and Commitment

A successful foster carer will need to be durable and resilient if they are going to be able to provide a placement for the length of time that is required, and to avoid unnecessary placement moves.

Children are banking on their previous experience and if their piggy bank of relationship experience had more ‘negative’ deposits than ‘positive’ deposits, adults may find that these children act out more. They might be disruptive, aggressive, and difficult to deal with, which may cause us to get angry, nag, or raise our voices.

It takes consistent commitment and a lot of love.
